The Centre for Young People in Downpatrick  - serving the young people of Downpatrick since 1981

ABOUT THE PATRICIAN YOUTH CENTRE

The Centre is one of fourteen purpose built centres established by the Diocese of Down and Connor to provide youth services for children and young people throughout the Parish and it’s environs. Over the years the Centre has seen thousands of children and young people pass through it’s doors taking part in a vast programme of activities and socialising through the organisation.

Throughout the decades the Centre has delivered to DENI (Department of Education, NI) Youth Service Policy and currently works to the ‘Priorities for Youth Policy’ and ‘Model for Effective Practice’. Both of these policies provide the framework for the delivery of all programmes and activities undertaken by children and young people aged 4 and upwards engaged in non-formal education.

Patrician is established to provide, maintain and promote facilities and activities of a social, spiritual, educational and recreational nature. The Centres purpose is to improve to the conditions of life of children and young people without distinction.  The Centre is fully committed to ensure the care, welfare and safety of young people who participate in the organisation.

Patrician is the principal youth provider for the Downpatrick catchment area. The Centre provides full time youth provision and delivers an extensive range of programmes to cater for children aged 4-18.
