National Theatre Connections

The Patrician Youth Centre has been selected by the National Theatre London to participate in the exciting national project “Connections 2015”

The annual project sees 10 top playwrights product new pieces of theatre and youth theatre groups around the country are selected to produce them. This is the first year that the Patrician has been selected and the Centre is hugely excited to build on the wide theatrical experience and stage their selection “The Crazy Cool Girls Fan Club” by acclaimed writer for stage and Television Sarah Solemani

Connections aims to:

· inspire 13-19 year olds with high-quality new playwriting

· give companies the knowledge, skills and confidence to bring the plays to life

· involve a wide range of young companies, giving additional support where needed

encourage young people to get involved in all aspects of theatre-making

Director Brian Mullan recently attended a training weekend in London’s National Theatre with the 250 theatre groups across the UK and Ireland working with National Theatre directors and the playwright herself!

This represents a massive new development in the Patrician’s theatre work and as such PYC would like to invite those studying drama at the local schools to come along and audition for the Crazy Cool Girls Fan club—the play will be staged in the Down Arts Centre in February and in the Lyric Theatre in Belfast in April 2015

Patrician is keen to open up auditions to local young people who may be studying drama at GCSE or A Level or who have a very keen interest in drama.  Auditions will take place this Wednesday night in the Patrician Youth Centre!!
