Interview with Ria

Name: Ria Maguire

Describe yourself in 3 words: I see myself as creative, friendly and thoughtful.

What was your 1st show: My first show with the PYC was Peter Pan

How many shows have you been involved in: this is my 6th or 7th show

What was your favourite show: the Lion King was my favourite show. I thought the music was challenging but extremely effective and everybody performed very well 🙂

What did you want to be when you grew up: I’m still not grown up!! I still have dreams I want to achieve, but I’m still happy when I’m surrounded by people and music. In my opinion the patrician youth centre is great place to work.

When did you start singing: I was in my school choir and I did my 1st solo in first year, I did my 1st major solo in the Waterfront and the Ulster hall when I was fifteen.

When did you learn guitar: I had about 3 lessons when I was 14 and taught myself the rest but I still have a lot to learn!!!

Describe your fashion style: I find it hard to describe my fashion style because I wear things that I like at the same time. I suppose I like wearing something a little different- I don’t like to look like everybody else. Eamon O’Hare says I’m unique and original, Which is a lovely comment.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a musician: My best advice is to study hard at what you love to do, Always listen to your heart and NEVER give up, a lot of people will advise you to do something “safer” but that will just make you unhappy and unfulfilled.

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!!
